Kyra Davies Opens Her Own Beauty Salon in Her Hometown!

Kyra, a former Beauty Therapy apprentice with Saks Apprenticeships, completed her apprenticeship in June 2021 and went on to open her very own salon, Kyra’s Beauty, in November of the same year right on her own doorstep in Coldean, Brighton.

When she joined Saks Apprenticeships, through her amazing employer - Archers Health and Beauty in the heart of Hove, Kyra was a quite headstrong and had a rocky start to the apprenticeship. She wavered a few times during this initial period but after some gentle encouragement from Sarah at Archers and Rae-Marie, her dedicated educator, she went on to become the fantastic therapist she is now.

During that first couple of months one of the biggest obstacles to her moving forward was Kyra’s need to complete her functional skills. Rae-Marie commented that she “wasn’t keen on redoing her Maths and English again, so many times we discussed that passing English, Maths and her beauty apprenticeship could open so many new doors”

Rea couldn’t have foreseen the outstanding opportunities that this practical piece of advice would open up, but open them it did, and now with her own salon, ready in time for Christmas, Kyra looked back on this and all the other advice given by her educator with fond memories…

“I could not of done it without the support of Rae-Marie, I remember the very first time she visited, I said to Sarah my employer “I don’t think I am going to be able to work with Rae-Marie and Saks because I am not sure I am committed, there is so much work to do”, so many times during my apprenticeship I considered my options, but Rae-Marie kept saying you can do this! You’re a fantastic therapist don’t give up, she encouraged me and pushed me to be the best therapist I could, helping me with extra hours for my professionalism to get me ready with for my end point assessment.”

Looking back at the start of her short but exciting journey so far Kyra mentioned that she was lucky to have ever started on the apprenticeship, she was looking for roles in local salons to try and break into the industry and she came across an opportunity at Archers Health and Beauty which was for an apprentice role, after a quick chat Sarah, the salon owner, and Kyra hit it off and she was offered the job and the rest as they say is history.

Kyra loved her time with Saks Apprenticeships and would never recommend anywhere else for those looking to do an apprenticeship in hair or beauty as it was “The best thing I ever did!”. The outstanding apprenticeship coupled with Kyra’s drive and determination has led to this amazing achievement of opening her own salon, which still sometimes come as a surprise, as Kyra puts it “Opening my own salon in Coldean, my hometown, and making my family so proud, I don’t think anyone thought I would do it!“.

However, one person wasn’t so surprised, Rea-Marie said she always knew Kyra was destined to be a fantastic therapist and she was “So proud of Kyra and how hard she has worked to achieve her goals of passing her beauty therapy apprenticeship and now the opening of her own beauty salon. “

Everyone at Saks Apprenticeships is fantastically proud of what Kyra has achieved in such a short time and are looking forward to seeing how far she and her salon go in the future, hopefully it won’t be long before she is helping people join the exciting and rewarding hair and beauty industry with apprentices of her own!
