Apprentices FAQ

You are required to work full time, which would be a minimum of 30 hours per week. If you are aged 18 or under you will not be allowed to work more than 40 hours per week and no more than 8 hours per day.

Yes you can

You don't need to pass any GCSE's to start the apprenticeship, however you will need English and maths to complete the program. But don't worry we will help you get those grades too!

In most cases we will come to you in your salon. We do offer opportunities to attend our Hairdressing Training Academies for learners that are based within travelling distance of them.  As well as this all apprentices receive open invites to weekly online training sessions in our Virtual Classrooms and access to our Kleek Klassroom with it's amazing library of learning materials. Our educator ran training is much more hands-on than a typical college course and gives you the skills, knowledge and behaviours to excel in your chosen career.

This is when you put all the skills you have learned to the test!

When you are ready, you will carry out a number of services on clients, and an independent examiner will check to make sure your skills are top notch!

This depends on you! The harder you work, the faster you can achieve your apprenticeship.

As a guide, an apprenticeship will take an average of 15 to 18 months to complete. At the start of the apprenticeship we will work with you and your employer to agree a training plan and timescales for achievement.

You will be an important part of the team, helping out in many areas of your profession in the salon.

Regular training sessions will take place in the salon with a member of the salon team. A Kleek Educator will visit the salon on a regular basis to deliver training, monitor your progression and help you to achieve. To achieve the apprenticeship there are different components such as practical assessments, written tests, oral questioning, portfolio building, and finally the end-point assessment.

Our apprentices have a 90% success rate, so there's a really good chance!

The aim of our apprenticeships is for you to progress into a permanent position within your salon. In the event that there are no opportunities available once you have completed your apprenticeship, we will support you to find a position somewhere else!

No. an apprentice won't be charged for any part of the apprenticeship training.

As an apprentice, a minimum of 6 hours of your working week will be dedicated to training.

Yes you can. Our apprenticeships are available to anyone from the age of 16. We don’t have an age limit on our apprenticeships!

College is usually only classroom based. However, our apprenticeships are work-based, meaning it is much more hands-on, and you get to experience working with real clients. Plus, you earn whilst you learn!

Since the introduction of the Hair Professional Standard Apprenticeships,  Apprentices are taught the theory of cutting, colouring and styling of all hair types/classifications as part of the course, including extremely curly hair.
