What Will I learn on a level 2 Hairdressing Apprenticeship?

The Level 2 Hairdressing Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship has seven units in total and as an apprentice you will need to complete six of these units to be awarded the Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing).

Five of the seven units are mandatory. These units cover consultation, shampooing, cutting, styling and finishing hair as well as the use of colours and lighteners.

So, by the end of your apprenticeship, you will be able to assess the client’s requirements, advise them on the best services and products considering the many different aspects of their hair, look and lifestyle and offer advice on maintenance and management.

You will have mastered the skills and knowledge of shampooing and be able to determine the best products for a variety of hair and scalp conditions. You will be adept at creating a wide range of looks using both scissors and clippers and finishing off those looks with an even more varied selection of finishing techniques.

Finally, you will also be able to offer your clients the best service when it comes to colouring and lightning using the full palette of products to change depth and tone.

You will also need to complete one of the two optional units which include Perming and Hair Extensions.

At the end of your journey, you will be entered into your End Point Assessment and after you successfully pass this you will get your Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing).
