Here’s the lowdown on the full range of Saks Apprenticeships.  All of our courses are government approved where you will work towards a government recognised qualification.

As a learner you'll need to complete the following to achieve an apprenticeship with us:
 
  • a Level 2 or 3 in your chosen area (e.g. hairdressing, barbering, management) 
  • employment rights and responsibilities
  • functional skills in Maths and English (we also offer ICT but this is not a compulsory part of all apprenticeship programmes)
  • a technical certificate (only applies to Customer Service and Management apprenticeship programmes)

Hairdressing (Intermediate)

This course will suit you if you’re new to the industry. It allows you to work as a junior stylist and includes education in health and safety, reception duties, consultation, customer service, shampooing, blow-drying, setting and dressing, basic cutting, basic colouring and recommending retail.

Hairdressing (Advanced)

If you are looking to develop your skills and experience as a hairdresser this qualification is for you. Subjects covered include management of health and safety, advanced consultation and advanced cutting.  You can then tailor the course to suit your career aims with further optional units such as advanced colouring, colour correction, creative hairdressing, hair extensions and organising salon promotions

Barbering (Intermediate)

This qualification is perfect for learners looking to expand on previous hairdressing knowledge or those with no experience wishing to work as a junior barber. The course contains units in health and safety, consultation, customer service, shampooing, dry and finish, basic cutting, cutting facial hair, colouring and recommending retail.

Beauty (Intermediate)

If you have little or no experience and are looking for entry into the beauty industry as a junior therapist this course is for you. It features units in, health and safety, reception duties, working with others, facial treatments, eye treatments, waxing, manicure, pedicure, make-up and recommending retail.

Beauty (Advanced)

Once you’ve completed your Level 2 qualification, this course will help you progress to level 3 and more advanced beauty services, including management of health and safety, organising salon promotions, massage, aromatherapy, hot stones, Indian head massage and tanning services.

Customer Service (Intermediate)

This course is for you if you’re looking to maintain or improve customer service skills within your workplace. Units include communication skills, following rules and regulations, promoting salon services, dealing with customer issues and supporting improvements.

Customer Service (Advanced)

This qualification is for learners looking to provide outstanding customer service and take a lead in customer service development in their workplace. Units include delivering reliable customer service, demonstrating understanding of customer service, demonstrating understanding of the rules which impact on improvements in customer service, processing customer service complaints and gathering analyse and interpret customer feedback.

Nail Services (Intermediate)

This qualification will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work in the nail industry. Throughout this qualification you will cover topics such as take on responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, fulfil salon reception duties, develop and maintain your effectiveness at work, promote additional services and products to clients, provide manicure and pedicure services, carry out nail art services and apply and maintain nail enhancements to create a natural finish.

Nail Services (Advanced)

This qualification will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as an advanced practitioner in the nail industry, throughout this qualification you will monitor procedures to safely control work operations and â€‹enhance and maintain nails using UV gel, liquid and powder.

Management (Advanced)

Designed for learners who are looking to become successful managers, this course will give a better understanding of how to support a team of employees and provide leadership and direction in the workplace. Units include making efective decisions, lead and manage meetings, manage conflict in a team, support in identifying, developing and implementing new ideas and recruiting staff in own area of responsibility.
